Born in Smodna, a village in western Ukraine in the Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast. He graduated from the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy and earned his PhD there within the program 'Philosophy and Literature.'  Laiuk lives in Kyiv and has been teaching creative writing at his alma mater since 2018.

In 2018, Myroslav Laiuk was included by the Kyiv Post in its "Top 30 Under 30 of 2018" list—an award recognizing young, innovative Ukrainians who achieve outstanding results in various fields.

His work has been translated into several languages, and his books have been published in Lithuania, Slovakia, Belarus, and Poland.
